HAIR PREP
For curl services, you’ll need to come in with your hair down and dry in its natural curl/wave pattern. Wearing product is alright (do what you need to to show me what we’re working with), just try to avoid hairsprays/products that make your hair stiff, tangly, or hard to separate. Your hair should also be recently detangled (typically day one or two hair is best); I know fairy knots are inevitable with curls, just please avoid their “nests”. Tangles and updos disturb the curl pattern and wet hair will need to be dried. If your hair is not ready to be worked with when you come in, your appointment may need to be cancelled (see cancellation policy) or there may be a convenience fee added to your service to compensate the extra time spent detangling, drying, etc.
UPON ARRIVAL
Park in the lower lot of Oasis Skincare Center. Text/call me to let me know you’ve arrived and when I’m ready for you, I’ll direct you to the side door.
COMPANY
My space is intimate, so you will be unable to bring more than one guest inside with you; anyone extra will have to wait in the parking lot. As we will be in a spa, your child may accompany you only to their own service, not to yours.
TIMING
My schedule is wound tightly, so to respect my time and that of the guest following you, please ensure you arrive on time for your reservation. Extensions are at my discretion, not exceeding 15 minutes (up to 20 for color services); extensions are sometimes not possible at all and will be treated as a no-show (see Cancellation Policy). If you are running late, please text me so I can determine if we have time for your service still or not.
***
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your upcoming experience. I can’t wait to play with your hair!
Policies
CANCELLATION POLICY
I understand that life happens, and just ask for a 24 hour heads up if you need to cancel/reschedule to honor my time and provide the opportunity for other guests. Reservations require a card on file. A less-than 24 hour cancellation will be subject to a 50% charge to compensate the lost time. No-shows will receive up to a 100% charge and will require a full deposit to make any future reservations. Repeat offenders will be asked to seek service elsewhere. Failure to correctly prep hair and/or late arrival may result in termination of your reservation and treated as a no-show. Extensions for tardiness are sometimes feasible at my discretion, but cannot exceed 15 minutes (up to 20 for a color service).
PRICING
I base my prices on skill and time value, so all pricing is subject to change. While I try to inform prior to price changes, this is not always possible and can occur without notice. Reservations require a card on file.
RESERVATIONS
I work by reservation only. I suggest making your next reservation before leaving as my schedule often books out months in advance and will not be able to support a short-notice request.
COMPANY
My space is intimate and cannot accommodate more than 2-3 people, so you will be unable to bring more than one guest inside with you; anyone extra will have to wait in the parking lot. See ‘children’ below.
CHILDREN
I am perched in a spa location, so tranquility and quiet are required here. I welcome your littles during their services but ask that you refrain from bringing them to yours. Any exceptions need to be cleared with me first.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Because I operate by reservation only, my posted hours are not always exact. If you are in need of a time frame for your service that is not usually provided, please reach out and I will try diligently to accommodate conflicting schedules. 9-5s still need their hair done. I am a one woman show, so I keep up with online communications with as little turnaround as possible, but thank you for your patience. The fastest way to make a reservation is online.
SATISFACTION
If for any reason you should find yourself having challenges or concerns, please contact me within two weeks to consult about a corrective service. Redos may not always be feasible and accepted.
FAQs
"How do I need to wear my hair?"
For curl services, you’ll need to come in with your hair down and dry in its natural curl/wave pattern. Light product is best, but do what you need to to show me what we’re working with; just avoid hairsprays and products that create stiffness and make your curls difficult to separate. Your hair should also be recently detangled (day one or two hair is best). I know a lot of curly hair is a tangly in nature, especially as the day goes on; so don’t stress about the fairy knots, but avoid their “nests”.
"Do I have to lose a lot of length with a curly cut?"
Absolutely not. My curly cuts are customized completely to you, so while I will always tell you how much length you could stand to lose, I will never take off any more than you’re comfortable with. Damaged hair can be removed gradually, but damaged trust is harder to fix. I will also ensure that your bounce factor is taken into account so we know how much I’ll cut and how much you’ll bounce.
"What if I don’t know what I want?"
All services begin with a consultation, where we can talk about anything from your lifestyle/needs to your inspiration pictures. Just remember: your hair is your own and no one else’s, so even practical goals will be influenced by your uniqueness. It’s your hair’s world and we’re just living in it.
"Can I still straighten my hair?"
My cuts are designed around your natural texture, so if you plan to wear your hair straight on occasion, you should disclose this during our consultation. I can accommodate for some level of straightening, but if you wear your hair in its natural less than 85-90% of the time, you may not be ready for a curly cut commitment. Some people start with a Curl Transformation to ease into the curly lifestyle.
"I have allergies."
...me too! Taking care of your hair means taking care of you too; if you have any sort of allergies you’d like me to know about, please share them. Even the best products are not for everyone (although, if you do find the holy grail, please divulge it). We can find products that will be good for your visit or, if you have a special regimen, you may bring it in for me to use.
"I’m nervous!"
Most of us have been burned at least once by a negative hair experience, so we can row that boat together. We’ll chat about anything you feel concern over during your consultation and won’t do anything until you’re ready. If anything ever makes you uneasy, stop me! And if you’re not quite ready to make a reservation, let me know and I’d be happy to schedule a consultation without a service attached so we can brainstorm and do trust falls before you decide if this feels right.
Covid Practices
MASKING
For the time being, you may decide your masking preference. This is subject to change at any time.
SANITATION
I am diligent in my cleaning practices, ensuring that anything that you come in direct contact with has been cleaned and disinfected first. All shared surfaces (and my hands) are sanitized between guests.
CANCELLATION
Please be aware of your condition before you come for your reservation and reschedule/cancel if you feel sick or have been in close contact with someone who is. My cancellation policy has lenience for sickness, but my immune system does not.
CAPACITY
We are already an intimate locale and spacing is important more than ever, so only one additional guest will be permitted in with you; extras will be required to wait in their car until your service is complete. One child at a time is welcome inside for their service but please refrain from bringing them for yours.
